Well we are making plans for our upcoming trip to Missouri. You are probably wondering why we are going to Missouri. Well, our son Jon decided to join the Army. He left around June 16th for Fort Leonard Wood to start his basic training. He will be there about 10 weeks or so. From there he will be heading to Alabama for EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) training. He will be there for about 2 weeks then he will be sent to Eglin Air Force Base in Panama City, FL for continued EOD training. He will be there for about 34 weeks. Jon is scheduled to graduate basic training on August 29th from Fort Leonard Wood, so that is the reason for our upcoming trip. We are excited to see Jon again.
Our trip will start the evening of August 26th. We will leave Merritt Island, FL and drive to St Pete, FL to pick up Barb's sister Ruth. She wants to see Jon graduate as well. From there we plan to drive straight through to Fort Leonard Wood. We hope to get there late afternoon on Wednesday. We will check into our hotel and get some needed sleep I am sure. As of right now from what we know we will be at the base by 8:00 am for family day. This is where we should be able to spend some time with Jon. Then he will graduate on Friday the 29th at 8:00 am. We are not sure what happens from there.
While heading to and from Fort Leonard Wood certainly we plan to pick up a cache or two along the way. This is where this blog will keep you up to date. We plan to get at least one in each state we go through to add to our list of states cached in. Currently we have only cached in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Barb cached in Illinois while visiting her brother. So it will be nice to add a few more states to our profile. Driving up there we will be on somewhat of a schedule so we will try to grab a couple quick ones in Tennessee then on to Missouri. On the way home we plan to go a different route and pass through Arkansas, Mississippi, maybe Louisiana and Alabama. All new states for us. I hope to post often about our trip as we have an internet card in my laptop and I can write as we are traveling. Let me know your comments on our travels. I will try to post some pictures as well. Less than one week until we leave.
